- AmeriCorps*State in Virginia.
The Virginia Department of Social Services, Office on Volunteerism and Community Service, accepts Request for Proposals for the AmeriCorps*State program year at the beginning of each calendar year. Grants are available to public and nonprofit organizations that sponsor service programs throughout Virginia, including faith-based and community organizations, higher education institutions, and public agencies. These grants assist groups in recruiting, training and placing individuals, as AmeriCorps members, to meet critical community needs in the following areas: education, environment, health, poverty, public safety, and other human needs.
