AmeriCorps*State in Virginia.
The Virginia Department of Social Services, Office on Volunteerism and Community Service, accepts responses to the Request for Proposals for the AmeriCorps*State program at the beginning of each calendar year. Grants are available to public and nonprofit organizations that sponsor service programs throughout Virginia, including faith-based and community organizations, higher education institutions, and public agencies. These grants assist groups in recruiting, training and placing individuals, as AmeriCorps members, to meet critical community needs in education, economic opportunity, and serving military veterans and their families.
Two meetings will be held regarding the RFP. An optional pre-proposal conference will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February. 1. An e-grants training, required for any proposal submission, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 9. Both meetings will be held at the Virginia Department of Social Services, 801 E. Main St., Richmond, VA. These meetings will also be available via WebEx. Registration for participation by WebEx only in either of these no-cost events is required. Registration for the pre-proposal conference must be completed by 5 p.m. on January 26th. Registration for the e-grants training must be completed by 5 p.m. on February 6th.
