Candice Nunnally, Richmond
Ms. Candice Nunnally from the AmeriCorps / America Reads Program at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) has been presented with the third annual Robert E. Wone Award for Exemplary Service. Candace is a student at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where she serves through its AmeriCorps program as a reading coach and mentor at a local elementary school. Established in memory of Robert E. Wone, a former member of the Governor's Commission on Community and National Service and Northern Virginia resident, the award recognizes an AmeriCorps member who exhibits outstanding community service.
Ms. Nunnally's passion has touched many lives at Greene Elementary School in Richmond where she serves. She also has a long history of service with Hands on Greater Richmond as a Team Leader. As a Team Leader, Candice has lead groups to contribute over 500 volunteer hours to impact over 3,000 individuals on such diverse projects as working with children at a homeless shelter, serving meals to low income individuals at the local food bank and leading activities at a community fair.
