AmeriCorps Program Serves Hungry Families in Fredericksburg Area

AmeriCorps GoodSkills Literacy Corps was invited by the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank on November 21, to help pack 750 bags for children at risk of being chronically hungry. The bags were filled with child-friendly, nutritious foods to be consumed over the weekend when free and reduced lunch and breakfast are not available. AmeriCorps members were accompanied by three Rappahannock Goodwill employees and several Kohl’s Department Store employees set up individual stations to complete the task. GoodSkills Literacy Corps member Dominique Thomas was thrilled at the results saying, "We are proud to be AmeriCorps members and are upholding our pledges by getting things done!”
