New Alliance for Virginians with Disabilities
A new coalition has been formed to provide a unified voice to advocate for the civil rights of Virginians with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Virginia Alliance for Community is a new organization formed with representatives from the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities, the Partnership for People with Disabilities, the Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy, and The Arc of Virginia and its 22 local chapters. The newly-formed advocacy group will work to reform the state's largest residential institution for individuals with disabilities, the Central Virginia Training Center (CVTC), in Amherst County.
