Virginia Announces Request for Proposal for 2008 AmeriCorps*State Programs

The Virginia Office on Volunteerism and Community Service is now accepting Request for Proposals for the 2008 AmeriCorps*State program year. Grants are available to public and nonprofit organizations that sponsor service programs throughout Virginia, including faith-based and community organizations, higher education institutions, and public agencies. These grants assist groups in recruiting, training and placing individuals, as AmeriCorps members, to meet critical community needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment.

An optional pre-proposal conference will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Virginia Department of Social Services, 7 N. 8th St., Richmond, VA. This meeting will also be available via teleconference. If you would like to participate in this meeting via teleconference, you must RSVP no later than 5pm on Wednesday, February 6. For more information, or to RSVP, call (804) 726-7068 or (800) 638-3839.

Visit http://www.vaservice.org/go/national/americorps_rfp/ to download the 2008 AmeriCorps*State RFP, and review application procedures and pre-proposal conference details. The deadline for sealed proposals is 5pm, March 20, 2008.
