White House Faith-Based and Community Initiative Conferences
OMNI Shoreham Hotel
2500 Calvert Street NW (at Connecticut Ave.)
Washington, DC 20008
In 2008 the White House and the U.S. Departments of Justice, Agriculture, Labor, Health & Human Services, Housing & Urban Development, Education, Homeland Security, Commerce, Veterans Affairs, the Small Business Administration, and the Agency for International Development will host several conferences across the country to help faith-based and community organizations learn more about President Bush's Faith-Based and Community Initiative. These conferences are free, but pre-registration is required. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. A block of rooms is reserved at each conference venue, available on a first-come, first serve basis. Please indicate your reservation is for the White House Conference. These conferences are part of a series of regional events designed to connect effective social service organizations with resources that can strengthen and expand the services they offer to the people they serve. As in the past, these conferences will provide an understanding of the President's Faith-Based and Community Initiative, information about the Federal grants process and funding opportunities, and the basic legal responsibilities that come with Federal funding. In addition, special emphasis will be placed on opportunities for partnership at the state and local level. They will also offer practical information on the grant-writing process, share successful practices from other organizations, and facilitate opportunities to network with government officials.
