A program of Citizen Corps which educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations. CERT members are responsible for preparing neighborhoods or workplaces for disasters and assisting others when an event occurs. The program also encompasses TEEN CERT and Campus CERT, which focus on engaging young people in emergency response.
